For imperfective verbs, the future is compound: a conjugated form of быть (to be) + the infinitive of the main verb.
| Person | Быть + infinitive | Example: читать |
|---|---|---|
| я | буду + inf. | Я буду читать |
| ты | будешь + inf. | Ты будешь читать |
| он/она | будет + inf. | Он будет читать |
| мы | будем + inf. | Мы будем читать |
| вы | будете + inf. | Вы будете читать |
| они | будут + inf. | Они будут читать |
Meaning
- Я буду читать = "I will read" or "I will be reading" (ongoing, not completed).
- This form is used for habitual future actions or actions without a specified endpoint.
- For completed future actions, you need the perfective verb (see A2 Future Tense).
